Wait for your energy bills to increase next year...

Wait your energy bills to increase next year, as most suppliers will pass an increase in the wholesale price of gas, increasing the price to be paid. Analysts predict that in February 2008 prices will increase by at least 15 percent.

Wholesale prices have been creeping up for some time, and several analysts predict gas to increase by at least 15 percent. Almost three quarters of UK households are connected to the gas network, it will affect millions of people directly. However, it is not just the gas bills are likely to increase. With 40% in the UK, the electricity generated by the combustion of gas, an increase in the wholesale price of gas means that electricity bills will rise as well.

During the past year, the wholesale price of gas has fallen by half, with wholesale electricity costs by nearly a third. Despite some high-profile price reductions, the main providers have only made the average bill by about 15 to 20 percent. While the increase in energy prices as much as analysts predict, customers could be forced to pay an extra ? 131 per year in energy bills.

It has been estimated that rising energy prices by only 10 percent would push 400000 more households into fuel poverty. An increase of 15 to 20 percent would be even more devastating, and we must do more to protect vulnerable households.

Fortunately, for those who want to protect themselves against rising bills, there are some very competitive capped deals available. In the past, capped deals were expensive, with customers on how to pay for their chances of peace of mind. Today, however, some tariffs capped are almost as cheap as the UK's best non-capped not cover fees and penalties if the customer wants to leave.
